A large meteorite was reportedly found beneath the earth of a mall entrance in Urumqi, Xinjiang Autonomous Region on Tuesday.
According to reports, the magnetic meteorite, weighing about two tons, was found at a depth of about 7 meters underground. It is understood that the Xinjiang is rich in meteorites and in recent years, more and more meteorite enthusiasts have set out searching the area for them.
Earlier this year, a meteorite that crashed into the ground in a Xinjiang province village was believed by netizens to be a “heavenly warning sign” of great importance.
According to ancient Chinese culture, the fall of a meteorite onto Earth is an omen that the Emperor hasn’t done a satisfactory job leading his people, or that deaths or social instability are not far off.
It wasn’t specified how long the meteorite at the Urumqi mall entrance was believed to have been underground.
