A woman in Taichung, Taiwan faced backlash from dozens of angry netizens after she’d posted a photo to her Facebook account of her pet cat stuffed inside of a plastic bottle, which she forced in there as ‘punishment for behaving badly’, authorities have said.
The woman, surnamed Lin, is an English major at Providence University in southern Taiwan, according to Want China Times. On Monday, she posted two photos of a white cat inside a plastic bottle and wrote “cat in a bottle, punishment for behaving badly”.
The post began to circulate online and became the target of criticism from angry netizens. The pictures were later taken down and the woman apologized for her action.
The case was reported to the city’s Animal Protection and Health Inspection Office and will be further investigated. Yu Chien-chung, head of the animal protection office, said the woman could face charges if the court finds her guilty under the Animal Protection Act.
