Video footage from a firefighter’s helmet camera shows the aftermath of the Asiana Airlines flight that crashed landed in San Francisco, killing three people aboard. One of the casualties was a teenage Chinese girl, who, according to coronary reports, survived the crash but was killed when rescue vehicles ran over her at the scene. The footage confirms that, contrary to officials’ claims, rescuers were in fact aware of the 16-year-old girl’s body on the ground before it was hit by two different vehicles.
The incident occurred on July 6 when a plane coming in from Shanghai made a crash landing in San Francisco after its tail hit the runway. The plane carried 307 people in total, and 141 of them were Chinese citizens.
Three people died as a result of the crash, and reports that surfaced soon after the tragedy revealed that one of them, 16-year-old Ye Meng Yuan, may have actually been alive before she was run over by two separate rescue vehicles outside of the plane.
Although some officials at the scene denied this claim, recent footage from the aftermath of the crash now shows that rescuers were indeed aware of the girl’s body outside of the plane before she was run over twice. According to recent coronary reports, the girl had survived the impact of the crash, and her death was a result of “multiple blunt injuries that are consistent with being run over by a motor vehicle.”
The footage shows that rescuers made comments about the girl’s body that was apparently flung from the plane. “Whoa, whoa, whoa! Stop, stop, stop! There’s a body … there’s a body right there. Right in front of you,” one firefighter told the driver of a rescue truck that was approaching the plane.
The truck then began to spray foam on the plane, partially covering the girl’s body, after which the vehicle drove over her. Several minutes later, another vehicle did the same, according to reports.
According to Justin Green, the the lawyer of Ye’s family, no one at the scene “did the basic step of checking if she was alive”.
“In China, they’re really only supposed to have one child,” Green said. “This was the family’s only child, a girl who was a star student, who was the focus of their lives. Everything that they did was poured into this girl and her future, and that was taken away because of some terrible mistakes and inaction by the firefighters.”
