A young Chengdu man rode his way to internet fame when he was seen traveling by horse on various busy roads, photographs of which have drawn intrigue and resulted in 马上哥 (man on horseback) becoming one of the top trending items on Chinese social media platforms.
According to a Chengdu Daily report, the man, Yao Shaoshuang, took part in the 2013 Chinese Equestrian Club Barrel Racing Championship in Sichuan province. Yao explained to reporters that this was his first time going to his mother-in-law’s house since he’s been married, but he failed to purchase a ticket to get there.
He had the idea to come home on horseback and thought it would be a nice surprise for his wife and mother-in-law as this coming new year holiday kicks off the Year of the Horse. He had no idea his journey would catch nationwide attention.
The Year of the Horse is already bringing all the horse-lovers to the yard.
