More and more passengers are bringing their own seats aboard the No. 11 line of the Shanghai subway, making it difficult for other people to maneuver or stand comfortably on the train.
Since the Shanghai 2010 Expo, people setting up their own portable chairs in crowded areas has become a common sight. It’s been specifically noticeable since Shanghai’s No. 11 line extended services at the end of last year, making it the longest subway line in Shanghai.
People have complained that it takes them up to an hour to get from one stop to their final destination, according to CRIEnglish.com, and have started bringing stools aboard during rush hour.
The portable seats have generally proved to be a pain in the ass to other commuters, and Shanghai Metro employees have said that carrying such items aboard is “prohibited”, but that’s obviously never stopped anyone before.
