Yong Yi Ting CNY feast: Didn’t find anything you like in our Chinese New Year dinner list? Then head up Yong Yi Ting, where from January 30 until February 13, they’re offering three special 12-course CNY menus crafted by Chef Tony Lu. Kick off Year of the Horse with Jiang Nan specialties like hairy crab soup with shepherd’s purse, braised pork pyramid, tea-smoked chicken, braised bamboo shoots with mushrooms, oysters, fish balls and meatballs, and more. Four person minimum for dinner.

“Maple taffy,” sausage, baked beans, and other Canadian treats at Cancham’s Sugar Shack: Homesick Canadians and anybody else craving copious amounts of meat and maple syrup should rejoice, because this Sunday, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce (Cancham) is setting up a sugar shack in Shanghai. For the laymen, “Cabanes à sucre, or sugar shacks, are where the sap of the maple tree is boiled and made into maple syrup. Between February and May, Canadians visit sugar shacks to enjoy maple taffy on snow (maple syrup heated to 115°C, and poured on crushed ice or snow), hearty meals and countryside activities.”
At Cancham’s, that hearty meal entails an all-you-can-eat buffet of sausage, ham, baked beans, scrambled eggs, mashed potatoes, bacon, split pea soup, cabbage slaw, maple pie, the aforementioned maple taffy (but with ice, we imagine) and of course, rivers of maple syrup. Not too late for Winter Menu Delice at La Table (Maison Pourcel): This is the last week La Table (Maison Pourcel) is offering its special winter menu of escargot, bacon, foie gras terrine, vanilla-scented prawn cappuccino with crab and lemongrass royal, citrus-poached cod filet, and Angus sirloin steak. Offer ends on Jan 31.
