The Chinese National Pole Dancing Team on Saturday received high honors and a number of awards at the World Pole Sport & Fitness Championships held in London, where teams from over 30 countries competed.
Singles dancer Sun Jian won Best Performance followed by Yan Xu and Liu Yan at fifth and sixth place, respectively.
Team members also took home awards for Best Singles Visual Performance and Best Doubles Visual Performance.
Earlier this month, He Bi, a member in the team, explained the…rigorous training process leading up to the championship.
“Every day before training, we have to take warm-up exercises for more than one hour. We cannot wear too much clothes, and sometimes in order to increase the friction, we have to spray water on our body and the poles. It’s freezing cold to practice in winter.”
The sponsor of China’s national pole dancing team, Yuan Biao, was one of nine judges at the show, as well as the only Asian judge.
