A premature baby, weighing a mere 650g at birth, has survived after 90 days of intensive care and treatment, according to an announcement made by the maternal and child care center in Chongqing on February 18, 2014.
The mother, 27-year-old Gong Yuehong, delivered a set of twin brothers on November 22, 2013 after 30 weeks and three days of pregnancy.
The younger one was the preemie, weighing just 650g at birth—around 400 grams heavier than the lightest baby ever born, according to Guinness World Records. The average wight of a full term newborn baby is around 3.4 kg.
After being treated, he now weighs in around 2 kg and is decidedly adorable.
Last week, we reported that a woman in Guanzhou gave birth to this giant 7kg baby by c-section.
