A 25-year-old man in Songjiang district has been arrested for stabbing his roommate to death with a pair of scissors because he was being ‘too noisy’, the local prosecutors office announced on Sunday.
The man, surnamed Wan, worked as a chef at a local restaurant and lived in a dormitory with his colleagues, according to Shanghai Daily. On January 5, around 2:30 in the morning, Wan came home from work to find his roommate Chen chatting and drinking with a friend.
Wan asked the two to quiet down so that he could sleep, which resulted in an argument between the three men. The fight turned physical, and at one point, Wan grabbed a pair of scissors from nearby and stabbed Chen in the chest.
Chen was taken to the hospital but eventually succumbed to the injures. Upon hearing that the man’s life was in danger, Wan reportedly ran out of the hospital and checked into a hotel using a friend’s ID, but was soon after located by the police.
Just earlier this week, a man in Shanghai was sentenced to death for poisoning his roommate and insisting it was just “an April Fool’s joke” gone wrong. Choose your cohabitants wisely.
