Weibo user JW行走在路上 has posted a series of photos where Xi Jinping, the man himself, appears in Beijing’s Nanluogu alley and walks around local streets, talking to the residents during today’s hazy (to put it gently) weather.
Xi has been trying to flaunt a ‘Man of the People’ image with his visits to the infamous Baozi Pu, inner mongolia, and the like.
People seem to, well, like Xi, which is quite rare among high-level officials. The pinnacle of this affection has come in the form of a cartoon entitled “Where has Xi Jinping’s time gone?”
Nanluogu Xiang (South Gong and Drum Lane, Nanluogu Alley) is one of Beijing’s oldest hutongs, and has a history of over 800 years. This North-South alleyway is filled with bars, cafes, restaurants, artsy little shops,
souvenir shops and cute boutiques. It is situated at Beijing’s Dongcheng District, near the Drum Tower with its northern end at Gulou Dongdajie, and will probably be full of petitioners and music videos any day now.
