Last week, Beijing couple Zhang and Liang held their long-postponed wedding in Antarctica after getting engaged in the Arctic 28 years earlier. The ceremony was live-streamed back to China, where relatives and friends witnessed the first Chinese wedding in Antarctica.
Zhang and Lian are childhood friends turned business partners, who say they have dated for nearly 30 years and become multimillionaires in the process. They began an epic journey last July, and travelled through South Korea, Japan, Alaska, and South America on their way to the South Pole, where they wed.
Liang had been feeling sick throughout the trip and Zhang suggested they return home, but Liang said,”I won’t give up, there’s no coming back since we’ve already started.”
When he purchased their boat, “I told the owner we were gonna take this boat to the South Pole, they didn’t believe it,” Zhang said, but they definitely did make it, as these photos can attest.
