Early last year, Wu Fengming, 23, a college student from Hunan, started an online menstrual pad business with his friends and sold 100 pads to more than 200 members in only four days. Wu was inspired when he received a package from his girlfriend with two panties, three pairs of socks and a pair of gloves. Said Wu “I felt my girlfriend’s care and love. Girls feel quite unwell during their period so why not create a delivery ‘platform’ of love?”
In order to realize his entrepreneurial dream, Wu gave up a free ride to major graduate schools as well as lucrative job opportunities. A bit nauseating we know, guys, but we’d say it’s a lot better/more lucrative way to show love than being your GF’s chair or punching bag.
Wu talked to his parents about the idea to parents who couldn’t really understand it. His friends were confused as well. The beginning of the business was pretty embarrassing because he had to go to supermarket to investigate the pad brands and corresponding sales and also ask his female friends for advice.
Unfazed by haters, the three friends claim they are very confident in what they’re doing, “This is a meaningful business, because we are not only selling sanitary pads, we are also sharing care and love.” *Period.
