A man was rescued after he’d been trapped in a cliff crevice hundreds of meters above a river in Guizhou province, where he dangled for two days before being found.
The Global Times reports that the man’s family had reported him as missing a day after he left for work on March 4 and never returned.
It took three hours for the fire department to reach the unidentified man after police found him caught in a crack of the cliffs of Sanjiangkou in Fuquan, Guizhou province on March 6.
The rescue team repelled down the cliff to get to the man while a team below stood by, ready to send out boats in case he fell.
The team lowered the man to the ground with a harness at 2:25 p.m. and he was taken to a hospital.
It hasn’t been disclosed how exactly the man found himself stuck between the cliffs, but the explanation can’t be much stranger than that of a 27-year-old man in Xinjiang who also found himself trapped in a crevice in the Flaming Mountains near Turpan after he’d reportedly sleepwalked off a cliff and fell into a crack in the mountain range.
