Shanghai Daily has reported that starting from tomorrow, Shanghai Metro is shortening the intervals between trains for six train lines.
Line 1 will be halving the waiting time between trains from 8 minutes to 4 minutes in the stations between Shanghai Railway Station and Fujin Road Station during non-rush hours on weekdays.
Line 6 has committed to a reduction of interval time from 12 to 9 minutes in the section between Gaoqing Road Station and the Oriental Sports Centre Stadium. Jufeng Road to Gaoqing Road will be decreased from 6 minutes to 4.5 minutes during non-peak hours on weekdays.
Line 11 will similarly be saving you a whopping whole minute by changing their interval times from 5 to 4 minutes.
It is unclear which other lines have also undergone the changes so for those of us who aren’t on Line 1, 6 or 11, there’s still a chance you could be one of the other 3 lines that are having more frequent trains. For the rest of us, we’ll just have to continue with our lack of 2 minute sleep-ins and slightly less spacious train rides.
Maybe if Shenzhen had done this a year ago, this certain little incident wouldn’t have happened.
