Pizza Marzano now “Pizza Express”: Wondering where your favorite pizza chain in Shanghai went? Don’t fret, Pizza Marzano has simply adopted the name of the mother company, PizzaExpress. We know, it doesn’t pack as much of a punch, but fortunately the food still does with the same vibrant, hand-tossed pizzas we’ve come to love. To celebrate, they will be holding a one-week Stripe Party Tour from April 7-13th, a tribute to the fact that the chefs wear white and black stripes. Anybody wearing a striped shirt whilst dining at a PizzaExpress restaurant during this time will get half-off their bill (food only). So throw on your nicest Hamburglar outfit and head on down!
Slow Boat beers now available in Shanghai: Slow Boat Brewery, one of Beijing’s best craft breweries, is bringing its suds to town! The First Immortal Double IPA and the Zombie Pirate Pale Ale are now on offer at DADA, Hai by Goga, Staxx, I Love Shanghai, The Beaver, and Jackie’s Beer Nest. Starting in mid-April these venues will offer the brewery’s new Eight Six Golden Lager.
Whisky corner moves to the Howard Johnson Hotel: Tiny drink den and winner of “Shanghai’s best new bar” award at Whisky Live 2013, Whisky Corner has changed locations; moving from Taian Lu (down the street from La Petanque) to the front of the Howard Johnson Hotel. Owner Billy Zhong wanted a bigger space to house more whiskies as he’s almost doubled his supply to over 200 bottles. Come late April, he’ll reportedly start selling whisky-based cocktails as well.
