Stephen Colbert has responded to internet uproar in regards to his “racist” joke which appeared on the Comedy Central controlled @ColbertReport account.
Twitter has been gaining momentum over @ColbertReport’s post about starting “The Ching-Chong Ding-Dong Foundation for Sensitivity to Orientals or Whatever.” The comedian, who is familiar with racial satire addressed the onslaught of twitter reactions in his true form on Tuesday’s episode of “The Colbert Report”. “We almost lost me,” Colbert joked, in relation to the #CancelColbert hashtag which has been trending on twitter, “I’m never going to take me for granted ever again.” He followed this with another crack at the movement in his “Who’s attacking me now” segment.
The #CancelColbert hashtag is spearheaded by activist Suey Park, also known as ‘Angry Asian Woman’ on twitter, who has appeared on interviews to discuss the issue, who has also received internet backlash for being a spoil sport with a lack of humour.
