Police are searching for a man who reportedly stabbed two department store employees on Nanjing Road in Shanghai’s Huangpu district this morning following an argument about facial cream.
China Daily reported earlier that witnesses saw the man, allegedly a tourist from northeast China, get into a fight with the salesclerks at a shopping mall on East Nanjing Road after he complained that a 20 yuan facial lotion was too expensive.
Police said the man entered the store around 10:20 a.m. and got into a dispute with the two salespeople, at which time he took out a knife and stabbed the male sales assistant in the thigh and the woman in the waist.
According to Shanghai Daily, the assailant accused the store of overcharging. He escaped after the attack and is still on the run.
