Metro Line 1 was delayed yesterday morning during rush hour when a woman jumped onto the subway tracks at Wenshui Road Station and booked it south.
The line was delayed for 15 minutes after the unidentified 35-year-old woman climbed over the platform rails and began running toward the Shanghai Circus World Station at 7:12 a.m.
Staff stopped the trains and contacted police, and the Metro employees at the Shanghai World Station pulled the woman off the tracks when she arrived there almost 15 minutes later.
More than an hour later, the train service returned to normal. It’s unclear why the woman jumped onto tracks, but police were investigating whether she suffered from mental illness.
In December, a man who was reportedly hallucinating on drugs actually jumped on top of a subway train at Zhongshan Park Station and rode off with it before he was apprehended by cops.
