Three giant towers were blasted to pieces at the same time at a power station in Jinmen, Hubei after being in service for 35 years. There were two 200-meters high cooling towers and a 210-meters high concrete chimney that are now no more.
Police forces were sent to the explosion area to evacuate residents before the collapse and to ensure safety. Well let’s assume China has safety regulations. A new type of advanced Directional Blasting Technology was used so that it didn’t cause much harm to the surroundings. The attached No. 2 power station, which is only 200 meters away, was still working during the explosion but luckily the blasting didn’t cause damage.
People working at the front line at No. 2 station claimed that they could feel “slightly strong vibrations” but it didn’t have any effect on their work.
