Global Times reports that the the widower and his son, surnamed Zhang, were each given a one-year prison sentence with one year reprieve for assault and battery after beating the man unconscious following the woman’s funeral in January.
According to the original China News Service report, the victim, surnamed Lu, had approached the son during the funeral service and told about an affair that he once had with his mother, then offered his help to the son if he ever needed it.
Zhang told his father, who later found proof of the affair in his wife’s cell phone records. The pair then made a plan to lure Lu to a remote area and give him a good wallop. Lu suffered from a concussion, several fractures and pulmonary infection as a result of the beating.
