Ah Cinco de Mayo, that time when Mexicans celebrate their heritage, and an excuse for the rest of us to throw on plastic sombreros and down neon green frozen margaritas until they squirt out our eyes. We’ve rounded up five of the most festive Cinco de Mayo fiestas in town.
Cantina Agave: On Saturday, May 3, celebrate Cinco de Mayo at Cantina Agave, where 200RMB gets you fiendish amounts of Mexican snacks, sangria, beer, and the restaurant’s namesake in Margarita form. After 11pm, enjoy drinks knocked down to 25RMB. Beats provided by DJ Ver[email protected]

From May 3-5, Stubb’s Bar-B-Q holds its annual margarita festival where margaritas are buy-one-get-one free. Sounds like your run-of-the-mill Cinco de Mayo deal, right? No, on Saturday and Monday you can enjoy free chips and salsa and half-price quesadillas, and on Sunday BBQ is all-you-can-eat for 198RMB! 198RMB // All day // Stubb’s Bar-B-Q // 550 Jianguo Xi Lu, near Wulumuqi Lu (建国西路550号, 近乌鲁木齐路).

Piro: Okay, so it’s not Mexican per se, but let’s face it, neither are 70% of the people celebrating Cinco de Mayo (let’s face it, it’s become the Mexican St. Patrick’s Day). And Piro’s not trying to hide it. On May 5th, 200RMB gets you a free-flow Tex-Mex buffet with margaritas, Coronas, and sangria. Only 180RMB if you RSVP to [email protected].
