A teacher at a Qingqyuan Road kindergarten in Beijing’s Chaoying district was seen kicking and shoving her students aggressively in a video that’s caused outrage nationwide.
The 27-year-old teacher, surnamed Liu, admitted to hitting, kicking and screaming at students over the past year, leading to parents gather outside of the school on Monday carrying reports of bruises their children suffered at the hands of the teacher, demanding justice.
“Slack. No discipline. I cannot handle you at all!” she was heard saying in the video linked by Xinhua.
“You’re crazy…Go home. Let your mom discipline you,” she said before she was seen on film kicking the students.
Liu has reportedly been sacked, according to South China Morning Post, and parents are now demanding that the education department take over the kindergarten’s management.
The video was taken at the private Wisdom Kindergarten on April 25. Around 10:00 a.m., Liu was recorded ordering the 21 children to go into a bathroom, grabbing two boys who tried to run away. Although it’s not seen on film, parents say the children could be heard yelling for five minutes as Liu kicked him in the head, legs and back.
Parents have also called attention to at least two other faculty members in the classroom who witnessed the abuses happening but said nothing about it at the time or to officials.
This comes amid a nationwide inspection of schools by the Ministry of Education and the National Health and Family Planning Commission following a string of reported abuses and acts of negligence on behalf of staff at kindergartens across China.
Last month, two children died and several more were hospitalized after they reportedly ate rat poison at a kindergarten in Yunnan. Just about a week prior, a kindergarten in Shaanxi province was closed down for administering antiviral drugs that were sickening children.
This month, police arrested a woman in Yunnan province who admitted to feeding kindergartners tainted pizza rolls, killing two children.
