Shanghai’s Yuyuan Garden, the Nanjing Road pedestrian mall, the Bund and Xujiahui attracted over 6.95 million tourists over the Labor Day holiday weekend, according to the Shanghai Tourism Administration, who added that major tourist attractions across the city were packed to capacity because of warm weather.
Shanghai Daily relays that the Shanghai Wildlife Park in Pudong saw around 125,200 visitors over the three days, the Oriental Pearl Tower around 69,000 and the Fenjing Water Tower in Jinshan hosted some 96,6000 tourists during the holiday—all numbers up from the previous year.
We’d also like to neatly tie in that the city’s commerce authority received over 240 consumer complaints over the Labor Day holiday, up 12 percent from the same period last year.
China’s railways saw a record flow of people over the weekend as well, with nearly 10.65 million train trips being made by travelers on Thursday alone—up 19.9 percent from the same holiday weekend last year.
All in all, a good weekend to be a blog hermit.
