Government officials in Guangzhou will now be banned from entering public entertainment venues as part of Xi Jinping’s ongoing campaign to wipe out extravagance and all kinds of fun.
Xinhua reports that night clubs, private clubs and discos, yes, even discos, will be off-limits for Guangzhou’s officials.
The move is a yet another step toward an eight-point code of conduct issued by the central government in 2012 meant to help boost ties with the public.
Central government authorities have already banned the use of public funds on celebratory drinking, smoking, firework-lighting and lavish banquets in an effort to crack down on frivoulous spending by government officials.
No drink, no smoke, no disco—for the love of god, just don’t take away the dice. Frankly we don’t want to be around when some sort of Shining effect unfolds.
