Some strange, strange things went down on Beijing’s 5th ring road yesterday morning. Multiple photographs posted to Weibo show a horse, fully equipped with a saddle and bridle, racing down the middle of the road with the owner, a dog, and the dog’s owner all trailing behind.
According to posts from a driver at the scene (who should really clean his car windows), a man with a pony tail, suspected of being the owner, was running some 400 meters behind the horse as it galloped at ‘a very fast pace’ down the northern section of the 5th ring road.
Things escalated when one of the driver’s dogs jumped out of a car and started chasing the man and the horse, according to witness accounts. To top it all off, the driver then got out of her car and began chasing after the dog.
The animals stopped 20 minutes later at a nearby exit, after which the owners came to collect their respective pets and flee before cops arrived, because how could they ever possibly explain? Police are now investigating how the horse got into the road in the first place and to whom it belongs.
