This was probably an awkward one to explain. Officers in Shanghai yesterday afternoon found two huge navy artillery shells in the trunk of a car, the owner of which claimed they were merely “gifts from relatives”, according to local media.
Each shell measured in at 1.2 meters tall. Police detected them during an x-ray inspection in the Xicen township of Shanghai’s Qingpu district.
Further investigation of the shells confirmed that the explosive device inside had already been removed, and police are now waiting on military experts’ reports to decide whether the shells are standard arms.
The car owner only said that the shells were gifts from relatives. Once again, these families probably have some super interesting family reunions.
