‘520’ is an abbreviation of “I love you”. Many people, young and old, have their own way to celebrate the date. 500 students in Grade 3 and their teachers in People Primary School in Chongqing Municipality wore pajamas to school to celebrate this past May 20. Some students even gave away Thanksgiving cards and Friendship cards to their classmates while exclaiming “Today is our family day, we are a loving family! “, according to Chongqing Evening Daily.
The teachers teaching Grade Three students thought couples took May 20 as a holiday to celebrate. They did many things to express their love to their partner. In fact, the teachers believed “love” should be expressed and said aloud between students as well as teachers and students (alright, get your mind out of the gutter). Therefore, this activity was held to educate students on how to express their love for their friends and teachers.
This “Family Day” idea was also supported by parents. A mother named Yaojing stressed this activity could help students be more aware of their classmates’ and teachers’ love. “School is a strict place but it becomes more admirable in students’ eye, when it allows the students to wear their pajamas to go to class for one day (although just one day ). Students now obviously like school more!”
Sudents in this grade plan to keep this activity going on every year. They are supposed to say “I love you” to classmates and teachers around them.
