An indebted university graduate was sentenced to four years and eight months of prison yesterday for attempting to rob his workplace with an air gun.
The SCMP reports:
The sentence was passed on Cheung Chung-man after he submitted more than 40 letters of support, including expressions of forgiveness from the former colleagues he had tried to rob.
Cheung pleaded guilty in the Court of First Instance to one count of attempted robbery, saying he had been desperate to repay a HK$28,000 credit card debt.
His half-assed robbery failed when Law Chin-hang, 22, a colleague he had ordered at gunpoint to open a safe, triggered an alarm and he was overpowered by others.
His debt came from the money he had used to pay for student activities. Rather than asking his parents for help, he decided to take the burden on his shoulders. What a moron.
