This anonymous expat is now considered a superstar among Chinese netizens. His ‘heroic’ deed? Collecting rubbish on the Badaxia shore of Qingdao!
The man became famous after a Weibo post featuring his picture went viral on internet: “A friend of mine just took a picture of a foreign man picking up rubbish at Badaxia shore. Forward it if you are from Qingdao, it’s full of positive energy!”
Sina reports that “the Weibo post heated up discussions among netizens, racking up hundreds of likes on Weibo. Some bloggers said we should learn from the foreign man, even foreigners are help protecting our environment.”
According to two fishermen, it was not the first time that the blond foreigner was seen picking up litter on the beach. Both glorified the man, acknowledging that “walking on the slope of the shore risked falling into the sea” and considering his actions as “respectable.”
South China’s Silver Beach would need thousands of such heroes!
Maybe his other heroic deeds entail “waiting for people to exit the metro before getting on” and “not hacking phlegm on the sidewalk.”
