A recent study from the Shanghai Seventh People’s Hospital found that “light alcohol intake is associated with a reduced risk of total stroke, ischemic stroke, and stroke mortality” – a fact that probably won’t benefit binge-happy Shanghai.
The study specifies that “an alcohol intake of 0-20g/day is associated with decreased rates of stroke morbidity and mortality.” Above 40 grams, alcohol becomes detrimental and increases the risk of harm. In other words, China is practically screwed.
