A young woman in Guangdong province killed and beheaded her pet kitten then posted graphic images on Weibo, where they’ve received viral attention from netizens who’ve called the woman out for being “out of her mind” and inhumane.
The woman, Li Pingping, beheaded the baby cat in her bathroom last Friday, two weeks after she’d purchased it, according to the post she uploaded to Weibo. The images [we advise you don’t click] blew up on online and received thousands of comments from disgusted netizens who called the woman “insane”.
Li said she’d killed the cat as a way to vent her anger over family problems, telling people to “back off”. Days later, she deleted all the photos and apologized in another post, saying that she had been under the influence of alcohol and was experiencing ‘domestic misfortune’.
“What you did disqualifies you as a human being,” user Laojiudehuanggua wrote in response to the images.
“I don’t know what to say. People who abuse small animals like this have serious problems, no matter what the reason,” 坑爹侠_ thepit said.
“I just hope that the wrong way of venting emotions could be avoided in the future,” user tubeGhost added.
At the end of last year, a woman in Taiwan faced online backlash after she’d posted images on Facebook of her pet cat stuffed inside a plastic bottle. She said she put the cat there as “punishment for behaving badly”, but later took the pictures down and apologized.
