In light of the upcoming Gaokao ((高考), China’s notoriously difficult college entrance exam, pics have surfaced of confiscated Chinese test-cheating equipment that looks like it was taken straight from the KGB. Perhaps this is why the Gaokao composition questions are so damn cryptic………
A shutter coin that acts as a remote control to turn on a camera that’s built into glasses (main pic). The glasses cam allegedly sends pics of test questions to an outside party, who sends the answers back.
A shirt with an FBI-style wire attached to a phone that sends out signals.
A pen (top) that sends questions to to another party, who sends back the answers to an in-ear device (bottom). Confiscated in Sichuan.
A ‘bottle cam’ (top) that’s hooked up to a receiver concealed inside a wallet (bottom).
All this does beg the question of if these students are that smart/have that much time to devise Bond-style gadgets why couldn’t they use those brains/time to study?
After these students are done being punished, they can probably look forward to long and fruitful careers culling US trade secrets as part of the PLA’s cyberspying division.
