A Taiwanese man and his mistress were sentenced to two and three months in jail, respectively, after his wife discovered their affair by smelling his underwear, Apple Daily reports.
The wife, surnamed Wang, discovered that her husband, Li, had sex with his mistress in Wang’s car back in September 2012. Li was given away when his wife smelled something suspicious about his knickers (we’ll just say, the report described it as “fishy”) while doing laundry at their home in Taipei’s Neihu district. The couple had been married for more than 10 years and had a daughter together.
Wang reportedly did some detective work using a data recorder installed in her car, and was able to play back sounds of moans and conversations like “I’ve got waist pain!” and “Where are my trousers?”. She used the recordings to sue her husband and the mistress for adultery.
A court of first instance acquitted both of the charge as it was believed that the moaning sounds were not evidence enough to prove they had sexual intercourse. The court of second instance finally deemed their affair adulterous, however, as intimate conversations and some irregular carseat cushion noises were also heard.
The man and the mistress were sentenced to 3 months and 2 months respectively, still small potatoes compared to the Taiwanese woman who was handed 298 years in jail for having extra-marital relation with her married neighbor.
