After those pesky pandas failed to fill Paul the Octopus‘ shoes (er, tentacles) as World Cup Prophets, fans have been scouring the animal kingdom for new soccer seers. And it looks like they’ve finally found replacements: pet turtles.
According to CRIEnglish.com:
Pictures were posted online Sunday showing soccer fans made their turtles pick leaves from scraps of paper displaying team names.
Unlike Paul the Octopus, unfortunately, these turtles hardly gave correct predictions as they picked England, Japan and Spain as the winners.
When you know that Netherlands beat Spain 5-1, you realize that these turtles are totally off when it comes to forecasting World Cup outcomes.
We won’t be surprised if Shanghai Ocean Aquarium’s fish are the next candidates since they’re already taking part in the ‘Underwater World Cup’.
