A 34-year-old Taiwanese man punished himself by standing in front of a Yunlin temple for two days begging for his wife’s forgiveness after the two got in a fight, Apple Daily reports. That’s dedication.
The man, He Nan, had been standing in the sun for two days with a sign reading messages like “I know I did something wrong”, “I truly repent” and “Please give me a chance”.
According to the report, he had a fight with his wife and then attempted to commit suicide, which apparently angered her more. She then left home with their eight-month-old son and returned to her parents’ home in Yunlin.
“I used to be a face-saving man. It’s impossible to be told to do these things,” He said. “But I don’t want my kid to be raised in a single-parent family. What matters is my family. Face doesn’t matter.”
During an interview, the man cried when he was asked what he wanted to say to his wife. He replied, “Wife, I know I have done something wrong. Please forgive me. I repent wholeheartedly.”
According to the report, the man first went to Yunlin from Chiayi to apologize, unsuccessfully, and his wife even called the police. He then decided to apologize publicly, which she considered ‘a shame’.
