Students at the South China Normal University’s Shipai campus (Guangzhou) set up a naked run to protest against the miserable cooling facilities in their dormitories. Sadly, the protest was stopped short by the university for safety reasons.
According to the SCMP:
With only two fans in a six-person dormitory and temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius, students have complained of being unable to sleep and having to take several showers to cool themselves at night.
Unwilling to put up with the suffocating heat any longer, an unidentified student proposed the streaking protest on Wechat several days ago, urging his peers to join him for a jog in the buff around the campus at 8pm to draw the school authorities’ attention to their plight.
“Leave your dormitories and join our ‘run naked’ activity instead of staying and baking in the heat of our rooms,” he said.
The good news is that the university promised to install aircons on all three of its campuses.
Next time you want to get things done, threaten to get naked. Strikes are old-fashioned!
