Tired of plain old instant noodles? You’re not alone! Many Taiwan residents have decided to spice up their noods by putting pudding in them!
Basically, they’re adding Japanese pudding, which is similar to a custard or a flan, on top of the noodles to make “pudding ramen noodles.” This way of eating instant ramen noodles has approved by netizens who say that the taste was very similar to “tonkotsu ramen” (pork bone broth ramen).
With the power of Internet, this new way of eating instant ramen noodles has attracted people overseas from the Japanese Website Rocketnews24 and the Los Angeles Times to try and report about it.
People from Rocketnews24 used Nissin Soy Sauce Cup Noodles for the food experiment. After adding puddingt, they found that pudding and the noodles matched up well with each other, turning into a creamy soup. They commented, “this way of eating is incredible! The nice blend of salty and sweet tastes, together with the warm temperature balanced by hot noodles and cool pudding just makes them surprisingly a perfect combination.”
Los Angeles Times also featured an article about this new food. Reporter Jen Harris even said that it is worth to try if you are an adventurous gourmet.
On the internet, there are also many people sharing other weird ways of eating instant ramen noodles, including adding Japanese onigiri (Japanese rice balls) or ice cream to the noodles. Perhaps you can try all these methods and see which one you like the most!
