It’s almost July 4th, a time when Americans celebrate their independence, or as our British friends call it, that time “when Mother England rid themselves of that ‘uppity colony’ to the West.” But no matter who you are, here are four festive Independence Day meals to get those fireworks started in your mouth.
Madison: What better place to celebrate American Independence than at Shanghai’s most American Restaurant! This year, Austin Hu’s grilling up a cornucopia of treats, and serving oceans of summer punch and kegs of cold brew, for what looks to be a festive outdoor red, white, and blue bash.
5-10pm // Madison // Bldg 2, 3 Fenyang Lu, near Huaihai Lu (汾阳路3号, 近淮海路).
Bubba’s: Join Ruijin Cajun at Bubba’s at the Cool Docks for an epic Independence Day extravaganza with Cajun characteristics. Patriotic noshes entail succulent fire pit BBQ, a traditional Louisiana crayfish boil, and more. Happy Hour runs from noon until 8pm, and there’ll be fireworks, and live tunes by Shanghai Newgrass Lands. No entrance fee, but each food item run you between 1-4 food tickets, 25RMB each.
12-8pm // Bubba’s Cool Docks // The Cool Docks 2, Wharf 1846, Section 4, 653 Waima Lu, near Wangjiamatou Lu (老码头, 四库, 外码路653号, 近王家码头路).
Roosevelt Prime Steakhouse: Okay it’s not a bash per se, but all day July 4th Roosevelt Prime Steakhouse is offering every steak on its menu for 20% off! Check it out.
5-10pm Sun-Thu, 5-11pm Fri-Sat // Roosevelt Prime Steakhouse // 160 Taiyuan Lu
near Yongjia Lu (太原路160号, 近永嘉路).
Stubb’s: From July 4-6th, enjoy a traditional Independence Day BBQ at Stubb’s, where they’ll be serving up pit-fired BBQ and buckets of Budweiser and Corona. There’ll also be live tunes, and an all-day happy hour! Email [email protected] to reserve.
11am-11pm // 550 Jianguo Xi Lu, near Wulumuqi (建国西路550号, 近乌鲁木齐路).
