A bus passenger along with his 51-year-old father managed to catch a thief on a bus and tie him up Indiana Jones-style after the man had tried to steal his wallet, according to Jinaghua Times.
The man, surnamed Cui, said that he and his family travelled together from Sihui Bridge station to Xiaoyue Yuan station on bus number 715 on Tuesday evening. When the bus arrived at Wuli Store station, he felt someone touching his back and soon after realized that his wallet had gone missing.
His father suspected that a young man standing near them had taken his son’s wallet, and began arguing with him for its return. The young man finally gave it back.
“My father caught the young man’s arm and had him pinned on the floor after he’d realized that he was the pickpocket,” Cui said. Cui then helped his father by pulling out one of his shoestrings to fasten the thief’s hands and feet.
The driver of the bus, which was apparently packed tight, said she could hear someone shout, “Thief here, don’t open the door”. The pickpocket was soon hauled off to the police station.
“I feel sorry that no other passengers were trying to help during the whole process,” Cui said.
