Despite peoples’ attempts to prove the opposite, alien invasions are bullshit. We can’t say the same when it comes to our deeply dark and inexplicable fear or a puppet invasion, which unfolded yesterday when a commando of puppets took position in a Changsha subway station with only one task in mind—which was apparently not to frighten, but entertain commuters.
Performers from Hunan province’s Puppet and Shadow Art Protection and Inheritance Center decided to organize a puppet show, one of China’s traditional folk arts, in their city’s subway to put a smile on the passengers’ face as well as share their passion. Ecns.cn stated that these puppets represent “characters of ‘Malan Flower,’ a famous large-scale puppet pantomime that is adapted from a Chinese fairy tale of the same name.”
So maybe the puppet invasion wasn’t as nightmarish as we’d imagined. Let’s just pray this doesn’t inspire a similar infiltration of clowns.
