Yesterday a young pregnant woman toppled onto Beijing subway tracks right in the path of an oncoming train. Fortunately, the driver was able to slam on the brakes, and roll to a stop, one meter away from the fallen woman.
The train operator reportedly knew something was wrong when he spotted people on platforms waving their hands frantically in the air. Heeding their warning, he slammed on the brakes. Had he hit the brakes a second later, she might’ve been minced.
The woman was rescued shortly thereafter and ferried to hospital.
According to a doctor, her injuries appear to be superficial and the 6-month-old fetus is in stable condition.
