A new street scam in Hong Kong dubbed the “famous painting con” went viral online today, and users are warning pedestrians to be wary.
Recently some clever street swindlers have been preying on the public by placing paintings on the streets in Hong Kong, and if you accidentally step on one, they’ll surround you and blame you for having “damaged” their “national treasure”, conning you out of a compensation of 3,000 HKD.
The ring has reportedly been spotted in several Hong Kong districts including Central, Wanchai, Kowloon Bay, Shatin and Sheungshui. They show up during peak hours in the morning when everyone is shuffling through the streets on their way to work and school.
Ye’ be warned.
