Situated on top of a cliff 667 meters above sea level, Hechi Airport will be the highest civilian airport in Guangxi when it opens next month.
Hechi Airport has been under the management of Guangxi Airport Management Group. The construction, approved in May 2006 with an investment of 850 million RMB, commenced in December 2008 and was completed at the end of 2013.
More than 60 hilltops were leveled off to make way for the airport’s construction.
According to Guangxi Airport Management Group, it will focus on opening up more flight routes to develop aviation economy facilitate air traffic in Guangxi.
And we have to say, it’s probably pretty convenient to be almost at cruising altitude while still on the runway.
