After police identified the suspect in the Hangzhou bus arson case as a 34-year-old Gansu man named Bao Laixu, reporters paid a visit to his home in Dingxi to learn more. Here’s what they found.

This pic was taken when Bao’s parents realized the news of their son. They were speechless. His parents are the local farmers here. Bao only had a junior secondary school education level. He had two older brothers and an older sister. According to neighbours, Bao, seemed more successful than his brothers and sisters. Bao’s family reportedly had a good relationship with neighbors.
This is the outside of Bao’s room. Bao’s home is located on a remote mountain, more than 70 km far from the centre of Zhangxian. Due to the earthquake last year in nearby Minxian, transportation services have just about ground to a halt.

According to Bao’s father, Bao originally living with them here. But since he left home 6 years ago, parents had not heard a word from him. Bao did not even call or send any money home during the earthquake last year.
This photo shows the interior of Bao’s room. Bao had reportedly never gotten married or had any children.Bao’s father recognised his son right away when the police brought the photo to their place. Though, he did not have any idea what his son did in Hangzhou.
