A shop in Shenyang, Liaoning Province has recently been selling a ice-pops resembling condoms, igniting outrage among parents who must endure watching their kids chow down on the things.
Wrapped in a white rubber sheath, the dessert, known as “Bubble Cream”, has become a hit among primary school students (of course).
The kids’ parents, however, find the summer snack tasteless and crude. “The look is a bit too shocking. It’s embarrassing to eat as an adult, not to mention for kids,” one parent said. “It looks exactly like a condom. Isn’t it misleading the kids?” another asked.
According to local reports, the condom-like ice-pop is produced by a licensed factory in Jilin Province and a patent on the packaging has been registered.
Despite the criticism rolling in, the producer insisted that the design is a shape of a gourd, not a condom. The prophylactic association is just people’s personal perception.
