Honey, I’m home! A female driver crashed into her parents’ house in Wenzhou, leaving the place in shambles.
The incident went down on July 16 at 5:00 p.m. when the woman, surnamed Ye, drove her husband and children to her parents’ home after dinner. Unfortunately, she ended up driving her husband and children through her parents’ home when the car slammed into two bedrooms (one was her mother’s and one was her brother’s), resulting in a house collapse.
According to a police officer, Ye was preparing to stop the car as it was approaching the home at a slow speed (only about 20 mai), but just before she hit the brakes, the vehicle struck the two rooms which promptly collapsed.
The officer added that the two-story house was made of bricks more than 40 years ago. The collapse was probably due to its relatively old age.
After the collapse, the air conditioners, curtains, ceilings and bricks on the second floor plummeted, hitting the front of the car. Fortunately, nobody was in the rooms and no one got severely hurt. Damages to the car, however, resulted in losses of some 10,000 yuan. So that’s gotta hurt.
Ye had reportedly only obtained her driver’s license last December and she seldom drove after that. She also claimed that she was unfamiliar with the functions of her new car. Ye is currently negotiating the claims with an insurance company.
