A Taiwanese couple who claims they were “meant to be together” because they share the same name finally held their wedding party this week after getting their marriage registered in Australia last year, Apple Daily reports.
Liu Zaxuan (Tracy), the winner of the Miss Taiwan Pageant 2005, and Liu Zaxuan (Edward), a Taiwanese dentist, held their wedding party in Tainan, Taiwan this Sunday.
“We are meant to be together”, said the couple, who not only share the same name, but also the same birth month and year. They are both 32 years old.
According to Tracy, the two met online four years ago when Edward searched his name online and she popped up. Upon talking, the two were surprised to discover that they were born on the same street in Tainan and lived very close to each other.
To distinguish the two, their relatives and friends dubbed Edward and Tracy “Big Xuan” and “Small Xuan” respectively; while they call each other by their English names.
The couple said they’d never had a fight in their two years of dating, even though they run into problems from time-to-time regarding their shared names (i.e. opening each other’s mail).
In preparation for their marriage, some companies involved with the wedding even required them to pay up in advance with cash to make sure it wasn’t a joke.
