A 37-year-old Filipino woman made Hong Kongers’ daily commute a bit more exciting yesterday afternoon when she inexplicably took off all her clothes at an MTR station in Mongkok and stood in front of an ATM machine to block people from using it.
The woman, identified as Liza, was apparently in an agitated state when she ripped off every article of clothing but her underwear around 2:00 p.m. at the busy Mongkok station. Her belongings, including a suitcase and shoes, were scattered on the floor.
According to Apple Daily, she began to wander along the area in front of a cluster of Hang Seng Bank ATM machines. Suddenly, she raised her hands and shouted, then ran backwards to an ATM machine and shooed away a man who was in the process of using it.
She posted guard in front of the machine, blocking the man from getting near it. The man, who had already inserted his card into the ATM machine, could do nothing but stand in front of the naked woman and wait.
Her impromptu act attracted many passers-by, who naturally stopped to record the scene with their phones. At one point, a woman in a red dress approached Liza and handed some clothes to her, but the woman didn’t seem to appreciate the gesture and refused to get dressed.
Meanwhile, MTR staff rushed to the scene and tried to give the woman a jacket, leading her to become even more furious. While staff was dealing with her, the aforementioned man tried to sneak back to the ATM to retrieve his card, but the woman caught on and quickly ran back to the machine to block it.
The spectacle lasted for around a half an hour, but was resolved when MTR staff convinced the woman to cover up with a towel. Police arrived at the site and the woman was sent to the hospital for a medical check.
