Two more instances of sexual harassment occurred consecutively on Shanghai Metro Line 2 this week, Oriental Daily reports.
One case involved a woman who said she found an unknown fluid on her shorts and legs after a man stood close behind her on the subway. Another woman said she’d been touched on the hip and legs several times on the train by a man who claimed he did it unintentionally.
Both female riders shared their experiences on Weibo and sought help from netizens who might be able to identify the men.
The first woman, surnamed Liu, said that on her way from Jingansi station to Songhonglu station, a man was standing close behind her. She recalled at one point seeing the man bending down and zipping his jeans, and she found that she’d been spattered with white fluid. She reported the case to police after he’d gone.
Another passenger, surnamed Chen, said her hip was tapped by a short man in a blue shirt with glasses. She realized it wasn’t an accident when she saw him turn to another target to touch her, so she shouted at him and took photos of him.
Other passengers called the police for her but the man was released with only a warning due to insufficient evidence.
