A Taiwan man filed for a divorce on grounds that his wife was so addicted to smartphones that she neglected to do household chores or take care of their kids, Oriental Daily reports.
According to the man, the wife, a full-time housewife, spent most of her time playing with her smartphone to the exclusion of doing household chores or rearing their children.
He stated that he could no longer tolerate the untidy home, and found his wife’s neglect of their kids unbearable. He recounted several instances where she forgot to get their younger daughter vaccinated on time or give her medicine when she was ill. Worse still, mold strains were found on the daughters’ clothes.
The man told the court that when he tried to urge his wife to do her duties, she not only ignored his advice but also blamed him for the predicament. Therefore, he decided to apply for a divorce. At court, his wife denied all the claims.
Unfortunately, this is far from the first time Smartphone addictions have just about torn families apart.
